The “AV” Rating is Martindale-Hubbell’s highest rating of a lawyer’s ethical standards and professional ability based on the information obtained from other members of the bar and the judiciary. Reviewers assess their colleagues’ general ethical standards and legal ability in a specific practice area focusing on legal knowledge, analytical capabilities, judgment, communication skills and experience. The rating uses a mathematical model that considers the information shown in a lawyer’s profile, including a lawyer’s years in practice, disciplinary history, professional achievements and industry recognition. The resulting ratings are as follows:

  • AV Preeminent® (4.5-5.0) – The highest rating representing professional excellence.
  • BV Distinguished® (3.0-4.4) – A widely respected mark of achievement, it differentiates a lawyer from his or her competition.
  • Rated (1.0-2.9) – This designation demonstrates that the lawyer has met the very high criteria of General Ethical Standing.

Both James H. Freeman,  and Mark D. Turetsky are AV rated while John A. Rule and Keith B. McLennan enjoy a 4.4 rating, the highest available BV rating. Your case is in good hands with us.
